Oh how I do love my life.
God has made everything awesome.
It's brimming full with the people I love
And people who love me back.
I'm so extremely thankful for everyone who He has put in my life.
I'm so blessed in every way imaginable:
  • to be able to go to school and learn.
  • To be able to earn an honest living, not resorting to anything extreme.
  • To be able to sleep in a warm, cozy bed every night
  • to have three meals a day plus snacking in between
  • to be not only be capable, but supported enough to fulfill my dreams
  • to have a healthy family
  • to have friends who help me to become better and who listen to me when I need to vent (which doesn't happen very often)
  • to not have to deal with anything that I can't handle
  • to have the ability to constantly change into who I want to be
There is so much more that I have to be thankful for too. Sometimes though I seem to take it for granted. I know I shouldn't but it can be hard. We all have those 'I wish I had ' moments, but they pass. Usually those things you desire pass as well or they get old really fast. It's so not worth it to accumulate material things, they just end up taking up space that could be used for something much more worthwhile like having a friend over for the night. Time to clean up this mess and get rid of the junk that's been cluttering my life and my room... Really though, I suck at keeping a tidy room.
Anywho, I should be getting to my studying which I've been whining about having too little time to do. Adios.

You don't have to be alone

I'm reading Ecclesiastes and pondering on one of the usual passages that you hear out of it. The whole "two are better than one" deal. The thing is though, usually when this passage comes up you don't hear the whole of it, just the positive angle, what we want to focus on. Even as I read it I kind of skimmed the verses ahead and focused on 9-12. Anyway, here's the whole of it:

  There was a man all alone;
he had neither son nor brother.
There was no end to his toil,
yet his eyes were not content
           with his wealth.
"For whom am I toiling," he asked
"and why am I depriving myself of
           enjoyment?"
  This too is meaningless -
     a miserable business!

  Two are better than one,
better they have a good return for their work:
  If one falls down,
his friend can help him up!
Also, if two lie down together, they
         will keep warm.
But how can one keep warm alone?
  Though one may be overpowered,
    two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly
        broken.

I can understand why people would only want to focus on the more positive angle of this, but personally I like to look at the whole story. I like to know background and context. If someone has experienced something negative I want to know what it was like for them so that I can decide for myself what I'll do if I'm ever faced with a similar scenario.

Anyway. This is Biblical proof that man is not destined to be alone. Whether it means that you'll live with a couple good friends by your side or a crowd of people who love you, you will never be alone. Of course we all have the odd moment where we feel like there's nobody out there for us or that no one cares about our thoughts and emotions. Even in those moments we have the blessed assurance that Jesus is carrying us through. In your loneliest moments, YOU ARE NEVER ALONE. It's like it says in that poem by Margaret Powers, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you, never, ever, during your trials and testings. When you saw only one set of footprints, It was then that I carried you."

Going through life alone is overrated. Sure you're independent, you can take care of yourself, you don't want to burden other people with your troubles. The excuses could go on forever. The truth of the matter though is this: everybody wants somebody. Somebody to share your load, to take care of you when you're feeling alone and scared, someone that you can depend on because you've been depending on yourself for as long as you can remember. If you have a longing to be with someone 'til death do you part', chances are quite good that God has that planned in your future. You just need to wait on Him. Live by His time. I know it's hard to do, but result will be amazing. Wait on Him.

If you look out into your life, at all your family, your friends, even people who you spend time around but don't really know; they care about you and what you're going through. If they are truly worth your time they want to take your burden because it hurts them to watch you carry it alone. It makes it loads easier to walk through life without the whole weight on you alone. I know you probably tell yourself that you don't want to burden them with your issues, so tell yourself the truth! Admit that you just can't stand letting go. You need to stop letting your past define who you are. The only way to move forward is by letting go of what holds you back....

Time to Trust

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own
understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths
straight.

So I was reading my Bible this morning and I'm currently in Proverbs. While going through chapter 3, these two verses really stuck out to me. I realized how much of a fair-weather friend I am sometimes. I really haven't been pouring all my heart out to Him - not all the time. I wish I could say I had. That would make my life so much easier if I was able to completely let go of all of my issues and let Him guide me in dealing with them. The only thing is, it's hard to let go.

I've had this thought in my head for a while now that the only way you can move forward is by letting go. Eventually everything that you've shackled onto yourself is going to add up and end up as a dead-weight on the end of the chain you're dragging. You'll be looking ahead but thinking behind. You'll think you're still moving, but in actuality it's like you're on a moving path but you're going nowhere because of how much the past is weighing you down.

When I pondered over these verses for a little while, a kind of translation of them came to mind: Imagine walking by yourself down a winding path covered in brambles, with stones jutting out of the ground and deep pits all over. How hard is it to walk down that path and avoid all the obstacles? It's pretty hard. If you trip and tumble into one of those pits you're pretty much done for. That's when you wish that you'd been walking down the path with someone else.
This is where God comes in, though He's been there all along and you just haven't noticed because you're too busy trying to get yourself over the brambles and stones and around the pits. When you're stuck in the pit, God is the only one who can lift you out. Trust in Him and He will rescue you. If you keep putting your trust in Him after you're out of the pit He will deal with the obstacles and make your path straight. Imagine the relief of a straight path with no obstacles. I have to say, that's the path that I'd prefer to be on.

I think that I have realized this before, but I've never really acted on it. Now though, it will be one of my goals to fully rely on God and place all of my trust in Him, not myself.
I've had enough of trying to lean on my own shoulders, of trying to carry all of my burdens alone, of trying to figure out my own solutions. Time to let it go. Time to move forward. Time to trust.

dotdotdot

your smile affects me more than you'd think you take over my thoughts with only a blink if only you knew just how i feel with a glance of your eyes my heart you'd steal i'm thinking of you and what you said these thoughts won't stop running through my head...

don't give up

cause you gotta
sing out loud and
dance around and
never forget the good you've got
and when you're feeling down and out
just believe that you can
sing out loud and
dance around and
hold your head hight
and believe that you can fly

on my knees

Lord I wanna see your face
Won't you come into this place
And fill me with your love.
After all is said and done
You'll still be the only one
Who died for me
Now I see

I'm on my knees
I'm on my knees
I need Your love inside of me
You're all I need
You're all I need

Lord I'm full of pain and strife
Won't you come into my life
And take it all away
Father please set us apart
Now I ask you with my heart
To come and stay
This I pray

I'm on my knees
I'm on my knees
I need Your love inside of me
You're all I need
You're all I need

You say that with You
I can move mountains
And with You
I can walk on stormy seas
And so I pray
That I can find a way
To trust You at all times

I'm on my knees
I'm on my knees
I need Your love inside of me
You're all I need
You're all I need

Ever After

Long ago and far away
A boy like you, a girl like me
They found true love
In a fairy tale
How long ago? How far away?
I looked into your eyes that day
And saw true love
Clear as the rain

Do you believe in the same way as me
That our love could last us for eternity?
Do you believe in true love?

Not long ago, like yesterday
That boy was you, that girl was me
We found true love
It's our fairy tale
So far ahead, so far away
We're looking back upon this day
We see our smiles
Light up the world

Do you believe in the same way as me
That our love could last us for eternity?
Do you believe in true love?

Not far ahead not far away
I'll run into your arms today
And stay
Till the end of our tale
The end of our tale

This love makes me want to sing
And dance around
Dream and laugh
And shout it out

This love makes me want to sing
And dance around
Dream and laugh
And shout it out

Waiting for true love
Living for ever after.
